The Little Show

2017 has been a great year.

It was the beginning year of Art Is Living art studio, and also our program Arterest was born by the end of the year.

It feels so unreal when you see the art works of 26 kids made during this year. They are so creative, so vivid, so interesting and so power

ful.

Every child is an artist, not only the way to draw or paint, but also the way they the enjoyed in the making. Their concentration, the expression, the imagination always cheers me up.

These little artists should be respected as real artists. This is why we put on this show.

Yes, they are little kids, their works are not so big, but what they are presenting is not so little.

It is a show from them, and for them. 1.2m is their sight level, and we are putting their works at their sight level.

Please come and enjoyed the show with us, feel the enthusiasm, get ready to be touched.

Monet’s Waterlilies

I am sure you will be surprised how children can react to colours with this subject.

First, we need to use paper tape to create a simple shape of the bridge, and then we will just let the colour do the magic. Continue reading “Monet’s Waterlilies”

Make Something with Light Clay

I like to use light clay with kids because they are easy to shape, easy to dry without leaving any cracks. The work can be preserved for quite a long time.

Making something out of light clay means you have to understand the body of the object, square? round? cylinder? And you will use your little fingers to form them. This is an interesting challenge not only for kids, sometimes adults cannot make it as well.

Play with Paper

As you may know, Mattisse made paper collage a new world of art.

Playing with paper has so much fun, they can be 2D and also 3D; it can be one layer, but also many layers. I encourage kids to use different papers with paints and brushes to organise their picture.

It sounds easy but actually, it is not so easy. Kids have to think and make a plan, they need to draw and create the object they need with paper.

The key point of this practise is not simply create something during my class, it is important to let them know, even the most common thing such as paper can be used as media of art.

Class Schedule Term4 2017

There are Four Units in the last term of the year.

Instead of making a lot of paintings, I would like to introduce more materials to inspire our children to be even more creative.

Unit 1: Explore the Texture

This unit will last two classes. We will learn about texture by using conventional art media, e.g. paints, charcoals, pastels, and unconventional medias, e.g. cupboard, lids, plastic. Kids will explore the character of materials and create their own texture combinations.
